En 2018, les Vantages AMR avaient étées transparentes mais on espérait du mieux pour 2019. En effet les Anglaises se comportaient tout à fait honorablemnt lors des essais et en 3'48"00
Nicki Thiim placait même la n°95 en pôle du GTE-Pro, avec une progression de presque 4.5 secondes par rapport au meilleur temps 2018 d'une Vantage AMR.
Malheureusement, les ajustements de la BoP avant la course allaient enlever de leur superbe aux Vantage AMR. En effet les pneus se dégradant trop vite, dès le 4eme tour, la n°95 perdait définitivement sa première place et les deux
Aston Martin officielles sombraient inexorablement dans l'annonymat du peloton. Si la n°97 finira la course très loin du leader GTE-Pro, la n°95 devra abandonner suite à une sortie de route à Indianapolis.
In 2018, the brand new Aston Martin Vantage were disappointing and the best was expected for 2019. In fact the british cars were at the right places during practices and in the qualifications, Nicki Thiim set the best GTE-Pro lap in 3'48"00,
nearly 4.5 secs quicker than the best Vantage AMR lap in 2018.
Alas, the BoP modifications before the race were fatal to the yellow cars. The cars were destroying their tyres and in the 4th lap, the n°95 lost its leadership and the two works Astons were going down into the last part of the pack.
The n°97 could reach the chequered flag, far from the GTE-Pro winner but a crash at Indianapolis will give a end to the race of the n°95.
