On attendait United Autosport, WRT, Jota, voire Alpine, cool Racing ou Duqueine. Et bien non! C'est l'un des petits poucets du LMP2 qui a décroché la timbale : Inter Europol Competition.
Il faudra attendre 21 heures pour voir la n°34 accrocher la 4^eme position de la catégorie et l'équipage Smiechowski-Costa-Scherer sera pointé en tête pour la première fois à 23 heures. Le team Polonais sera ensuite à la lutte avec les ténors de la catégorie, sans jamais être distancé. D'ailleurs nombre de teams LMP2 seront étonnés par la capacité d'accélération de l'Oreca n°34, ce qui conduira la FIA à examiner certains compsants de la voiture pour en valider la conformité (Courant juillet, la n°34 sera déclarée conforme et sa victoire validée).
Après avoir pris définitivement la tête dans la nuit, l'Oreca n°34 n'aura rarement plus qu'une poignée d'avance sur ses poursuivants, mais cela sera suffisant pour décrocher la victoire du LMP2!

We were thinking about United Autosport, WRT, Jota, or Alpine, cool Racing or Duqueine for the victory in LMP2. We were all wrong because it was a small challenger that took the chequered flag : Inter Europol Competition.
It was only at 9 p.m. that the Polish Oreca was seen 4^th in class. At 11 p.m. the car was leading its class for the first time. The n°34 fought then with the main competitors, never lagged behind anyway. In fact many teams showed their surprise speaking about the speeding up capacity of the Oreca driven by Smiechowski-Costa-Scherer. By the way, after the race some parts of the car were retained by FIA to check their conformity. (During july, all parts were validated as conform and the victory of the n°34 was acknowledged).
Taking the LMP2 lead for good during the night, the n°34 had most of the time a small margin of a couple of seconds with its competitors, it was sufficient to win the LMP2 anyway !
