Montage Kit MRE : Ford C100, Le Mans 1982

Building a MRE : Ford C100, Le Mans 1982

The Groupe C regulations published for 1982 boosted the world of endurance attracting many factories. FORD was one of them asking to Zakspped to design and built a car with aluminum monocoque, ground effect and powered by an evolution of the well known Cosworth V8 DFV. This new engine with extended capacity to 3900 cm3 was good for 540 bhp, but had so much vibrations than no car it powered could ever finish the 24 Hour race

Le contenu du Kit

Content of the kit

MRE Kit is in tradition with the old kits, with many details molded on the body and very few details supplied separately. The whole looks pretty nice with some bubbles to fill and ridges to clear. Anyway the end of the underfloor tunnel is to be completed, the mirrors and their supports, not supplied with my kit are to be made and I will have to supply the Good Year printing on the tyres.
Nothing looking very difficult except the sheet of paper badly photo copied supplied as a building notice... Personnal documentations and use of Internet are mandatory.

Masticage

Puttying

photo 2.Masticage.

After a first deburring, the hole in the body are filled with putty and pumiced. It looks that this first coat is not good enought and it needs a second puttying. Here is this coat drying.
WARNING with the pumice the dust of the resin is harmuf for your lungs. Please weare a protective mask and clean your working aera when once this job finished.

This kit is without problems, so I spend some leisure time to go further on quickly.
The putty is now dry and properly sanded, I'll see if I have to work on again after the first coat of primer. The body is fitted on the chassis without any problem, the assembly of the wheel is also issue free and the C100 is immediately stable on its rubber, without any adjustment. I've quickly removed the small ridges on the rear wing and glued its supports in resin. This group is just set down without glue to let you have an idea of the C100's looking.
The building of this kit looks too easy . . .
